Crisis
Management:
When things are good, products work, the CEO is dynamic and
customers are happy, getting press coverage can be a fairly easy and fun
process. Many times, THEY will come to you and the story will be positive
in nature. You are happy, your boss is very happy, the Board is happy and
the customers (read that share holders) are happy. Suddenly, and without
any warning, something bad happens, something you did not foresee (any of
you reading just fill in the blank because you all KNOW something bad that
could happen at your company)! Now the press is calling again, but this
time they smell blood and are demanding either quotes from you or an interview
with the CEO. They wont tell you what they want to ask or the direction
they are going with the story. Now what do you do? Avoid them? Bad choice
if you picked that course of action, believe me. You will see the story
anyway quoting unnamed sources and a "no comment" from you or
even worse "company officials refused to return our calls." You
do not want to see this in print or on radio or TV and neither will your
executives and customers and share holders! CMM will show the stages of
a crisis and detail courses of action in each phase. CMMs planning
strategy works with company spokespeople as well as those behind the scenes,
crafting responses. CMM can also come into your company and help manage
the crisis with you, step-by-step. You do not want to see your CFO being
led out the door in handcuffs, but if it happens, are you ready to deal
with it? CMM is. |
