Contacting
Press:
Nothing is as important as the initial approach to a member
of the press. Who do you contact? How do you contact them? What is your
"pitch" that gets their attention? What are YOU going to do for
THEM to make their life easier? If you think shooting out a simple press
release by email or fax will assure you of coverage, think again. Do you
think that all media outlets are the same in their dealings with the press?
Think again. You had better have your ducks lined up and ready to go BEFORE
